Talk about your internet coverage! District commissioners begin data collection and feasibility study | local news | Panda Anku

For those living across the county with slow internet speeds or no internet at all, it’s time to speak out. The Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the commencement of a data collection and feasibility study to identify gaps in high-speed Internet coverage across the county.

Expanding and improving broadband capacity has been identified as a goal in Westmoreland County’s comprehensive plan, which will begin conducting a detailed statewide analysis. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) data shows that 98.8% of the county has access to broadband, which is incorrect due to exaggerated data. The accurate mapping that will result from this study will enable the district to challenge the FCC data and use federal funds to expand broadband service to those in currently unserved and underserved areas.
