Reliance’s Akash Ambani Announces Launch of JioAirFiber Hotspot | details here | Panda Anku

Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio, announced on Monday the launch of JioAirfiber, a WiFi hotspot that will enable consumers to access fiber-like speeds at home and in the office. He said with the rollout of 5G services in India, the current 800 million connected internet devices would double to 1.5 billion connected internet devices in just a year.

“Jio 5G delivers ultra-high fiber-like speed over the air with no wires. We call it JioAirFiber. With JioAirFiber, it will be easy to quickly connect your home or office to gigabit internet,” Akash said of Metaverse immersive and interactive technology at the AGM.

Reliance Jio is poised to launch Diwali high-speed 5G telecom services in several key cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai this year. It then intends to expand its 5G network to every single city, Tehsil and Talukas across the country by December 2023, nearly 18 months from now.

Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani made the announcement while addressing shareholders at the AGM about Metaverse immersive and interactive technology.

At the AGM, Reliance Industries President Kiran Thomas said another opportunity with Jio 5G is that it can save customers money in unexpected ways.

To give an example, Thomas said, let’s take personal computers. He said: “Today, most households have to buy a PC or laptop and spend even more money to upgrade it every few years.”

“By using Jio AirFibre, customers can avoid all of these expenses and choose to use a virtual PC hosted in the cloud. This is the concept we call Jio Cloud PC,” Thomas added.

“Jio True 5G delivers breakthrough broadband speed gains and drastically reduces latency. We don’t even get 1Gbps on many of the fixed broadband networks in our country,” Akash said.

An even more exciting possibility of Jio 5G, Akash Ambani said, is “ultra-high-speed fixed-broadband.” “Through Jio 5G, we can create the digital infrastructure to deliver quality educational content to every student in every classroom in our country,” he added.

Jio will deploy the latest version of 5G called Standalone 5G. It will invest 2 lakh crore on 5G infrastructure.

Besides Metaverse, AGM was live on various social media platforms apart from their homegrown HD video conferencing application JioMeet. It is probably the first company in the world to conduct its annual general meeting on a virtual reality platform and various social media platforms.

Reliance Jio Infocomm has acquired spectrum in the 700MHz, 800MHz, 1800MHz, 3300MHz and 26GHz bands in the recently completed 5G auctions conducted by the Ministry of Telecommunications which saw the government get around Bids worth 1.5 lakh.

Established six years ago, Jio has set multiple world records in a short space of time during the launch of the largest 4G network. Jio’s 4G network provides the highest quality and most affordable digital services to over 400 million loyal and delighted customers. Jio is now set to raise the bar even higher with its 5G services.

Compared to 3G and 4G, 5G has very low latency, which will improve user experience in various areas. Low latency describes the efficiency of processing a very high volume of data messages with minimal delay.

Reliance Jio, Adani Group, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea were the four main participants in the spectrum auction.
