Delhi Metro Rail Training Academy gets state-of-the-art library – The New Indian Express | Panda Anku

NEW DELHI: Aiming to introduce and adopt world-class training facilities at the Delhi Metro Rail Academy (DMRA), a state-of-the-art telepresence room and modified state-of-the-art library were inaugurated on Thursday.

Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), was present at the inauguration and also toured other facilities such as the gymnasium, conference room, meditation hall, advanced and management program rooms, signaling and telecommunications demonstration room, operations demonstration room among others

Today, the academy houses simulators, computer-based training modules and demonstration facilities for almost all areas of the department. The telepresence room is well equipped with dedicated high-end video conferencing equipment with multiple screen views, direct communication interface with high definition cameras and multiple microphones with acoustic arrays.

The existing library was also upgraded with kiosks and a radio frequency identification (RFID) based library management system for efficient management of books and records. There are currently about 6,000 books, 1,000 journals and manuals in the library with more than 3,000 library members from the DMRC family. The academy also has an e-library containing over 2,000 books.

Kumar said: “With this new facility, the Academy will continue to raise the bar in terms of the quality of Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) education. Aside from the infrastructural and technological overhaul, the academy has also reviewed its training program with a focus on standardization, content relevance and cross-training advancements.”

The academy has operated at Shastri Park Depot since 2002 and has trained approximately 45,000 DMRC employees and 2,000 employees from other metro organizations to date. The Academy has also conducted customized training for non-Metro organizations such as Power Grid, DFCCL, RITES, etc. Their international clients include MRT Jakarta, Indonesia, Dhaka, Bangladesh and Nepal, among others.

The academy gets new premises
The Delhi Metro Rail Academy now houses simulators, computer-based training modules and demonstration facilities, among other facilities for almost all areas of the department.
